Why Sarms are superior to Steroids?
Steroids used to be so popular in the bodybuilding industry due to the explosive results they delivered. With these compounds, athletes managed to gain pounds of muscle mass within a short time, and that’s why they were widely used. Several years down the line, a new set of drugs was introduced which claimed to replace them. These were known as SARMs or selective androgen receptor modulators. This new class of drugs indeed became even more popular than steroids as it helped bodybuilders achieve the desired goals in a much safe approach.
Everyone who is familiar with the fitness and supplements industry knows that SARMs (Selective androgen modulators) are much better than steroids because they deliver excellent results without lots of side effects as is familiar with steroids. But, how exactly are they able to achieve all this? What makes SARMs safer than Steroids? How different are these two compounds and which one of them are you better off using to enhance your fitness journey?
Here is all the information you need to know about these two drugs.
SARMs are known as selective androgen receptor modulators. By their definition, these compounds are highly selective in their performance, and this is why the compounds are incredibly safe. They have less androgenic properties, and this allows them to be more specific on the androgen-receptors and the tissues that they interact with. This makes up the big difference between SARMs and anabolic steroids.
On the other hand, anabolic steroids are testosterone derivatives that are formulated to stimulate your body into secreting more proteins which are then utilized for muscle growth. These compounds are also referred to as anabolic-androgenic steroids because they possess both anabolic and androgenic properties. The anabolic effects are useful for muscle building, but the androgen properties are everything that is wrong with steroids. Their lack of specificity is also the reason behind the wide myriad of side effects associated with these compounds. When you take anabolic-androgenic steroids, they are going to interact and bind onto all androgen receptors in your body including the ones in the blood vessels and heart muscles resulting in the severe medical complications that steroid users are always dealing with.
How to Use Sarms
Another critical difference between these two drugs is on how they are used. Most steroids come in liquid form with the only method of administration being an injection. This is one of the reasons why a lot of people had a hard time using these drugs. Some couldn’t even start using them because of the phobia of needles.
A few steroids can be used through oral supplementation, but then they are all linked to hepatotoxicity issues. This explains why liver toxicity is one of the most rampant adverse reactions related to the use of steroids.
With SARMs, things are very different. These compounds come in both liquid and pill forms. These are much easier to take because it is all a matter of swallowing and that’s why a lot of people have embraced SARMs. Some stores even stock encapsulated SARMs, and this protects you from the raw taste which a lot of people find unpleasant. If you are using liquid SARMs, you can quickly get rid of the taste by chasing it with water or some juice.
Post Cycle Therapy (PCT)
PCT is crucial whenever you are using supplements or any other compounds that interfere with hormonal levels in the body. Anabolic Steroids, for instance, are known to increase testosterone levels in the body (which is a good thing if you want to gain muscles) but unfortunately they provide synthetic testosterone and this negatively affects secretion of natural testosterone. Steroids also cause a spike in androgens, and this triggers your Hypothalamic Pituitary Testicular Axis (HPTA) to suppress the production of natural testosterone. Users of steroids must, therefore, go through PCT to restore normal hormone levels. Steroids can also be toxic especially when used for extended periods, and this is another reason why you should never skip PCT.
PCT after using steroids involves using different compounds such as HCG, Aromatase Inhibitors and even SARMs. Yes, some SARMs can be used alongside other compounds during PCT where they will help steroid users to restore normal hormone levels while maintaining all the gains you achieved while on cycle.
In some cases, using SARMs doesn’t even require you to go through PCT. Some selective androgen receptor modulators are not suppressive, and this allows users to enjoy enormous benefits while leaving their hormone levels untouched. However, other SARMs must be used with PCT breaks in between cycles to reverse any suppression effects caused. Your supplier should help you understand whether the SARM you are ordering requires PCT or not. Some users prefer going through PCT regardless of the SARM they are taking. This is good and recommendable as it helps to make sure that indeed your HPTA is not affected by the compounds.
This is the only section where anabolic steroids have the upper hand over SARMs. Anabolic steroids are extremely powerful, and that’s why they deliver tremendous results within a short time. It is also another reason why steroid cycles are very short.
Some SARMs are more powerful than others, but none of them have ever been as powerful as steroids. Ligandrol (LGD-4033) and YK-11 come close, but steroids still remain undefeated.
SARMs are known to be safer than steroids, but they also come with a couple of side effects. The only benefit is that the adverse reactions they cause are mild and if you use the SARMs as prescribed then the chances of getting such complications are almost zero.
A few of the common side effects associated with SARMs include testosterone suppression, blurred vision, baldness, and increased side effects. The good news is that all these issues can be settled by a proper PCT. Take note that some of these side effects are due to your body’s rejection of the compound and hence the best way to avoid them is to stop taking the compounds altogether.
Steroids, on the other hand, come with a lot of adverse reactions and that’s why you are encouraged to never overdose or use them for a prolonged period. Some of the issues linked to the use of steroids include gynecomastia, cholesterol disparities, elevated estrogen, testosterone suppression, acne, baldness, liver toxicity, high blood pressure, etc.
The only upside with using steroids over SARMs is that you are likely to enjoy significant results in a short time. Unfortunately, all of this is canceled out by the unfriendly mode of administration and the lots of side effects they cause. If you think about it, using SARMs for a slightly more extended period to get the same results as steroids are much better than using steroids and having to deal with severe medical complications.
